Description

Easy Cinnamon Sugar Donut Holes are delightful treats that are soft, fluffy, and coated in a sweet cinnamon sugar mixture, perfect for any occasion.

Ingredients

  • 🥣 All-purpose flour: 2 cups (240 g)
  • 🍬 Granulated sugar: 1/2 cup (100 g) + 1/4 cup (50 g) for coating
  • 🥄 Baking powder: 2 teaspoons
  • 🌰 Ground cinnamon: 1 teaspoon + 1 tablespoon for coating
  • 🥛 Milk: 1/2 cup (120 ml)
  • 🥚 Eggs: 2 large
  • 🧈 Unsalted butter: 1/4 cup (60 g), melted
  • 🍦 Vanilla extract: 1 teaspoon
  • 🧂 Salt: 1/4 teaspoon
  • 🛢️ Vegetable oil: for frying (about 2 cups or enough to fill a pot)

Instructions

  1. In a large mixing bowl, whisk together the dry ingredients: flour, 1/2 cup sugar, baking powder, 1 teaspoon cinnamon, and salt.
  2. In another bowl, beat the eggs until frothy, then add milk, melted butter, and vanilla extract. Mix until smooth.
  3. Pour the wet ingredients into the dry ingredients and stir until just combined, being careful not to overmix.
  4. Using a cookie scoop, drop spoonfuls of dough into hot oil, frying in small batches.
  5. Fry for 2-3 minutes on each side until golden brown, using a slotted spoon to turn them.
  6. Remove from oil and place on paper towels to drain excess oil.
  7. While warm, roll the donut holes in the cinnamon sugar mixture until fully coated.

Notes

  • For a lighter option, you can bake the donut holes at 350°F (175°C) for 10-12 minutes instead of frying.
  • Ensure the oil temperature is maintained at 350°F (175°C) for even cooking.
  • Store leftover donut holes in an airtight container at room temperature for up to two days.
