Description

A warm, spiced red wine beverage perfect for winter.


Ingredients

  • 1 bottle red wine (750 ml)
  • 1 orange, sliced
  • 1 lemon, sliced
  • 1/4 cup sugar
  • 3 cinnamon sticks
  • 5 whole cloves
  • 3 star anise
  • 1/4 cup brandy (optional)

Instructions

  1. In a large pot, combine red wine, orange slices, and lemon slices.
  2. Add sugar, cinnamon sticks, cloves, and star anise.
  3. Heat over medium until warm, but do not boil.
  4. Let simmer for 20-30 minutes to blend flavors.
  5. If using, stir in brandy just before serving.
  6. Strain and serve warm in mugs.

  • Adjust sweetness to taste.
