Ingredients

  • 1/2 cup molasses
  • 2 large eggs
  • 1/2 cup hot water

Instructions

  1. Preheat your oven to 350°F (175°C).
  2. Grease and flour a 9-inch round cake pan.
  3. In a bowl, mix flour, baking soda, spices, and salt.
  4. In another bowl, cream butter and brown sugar until fluffy.
  5. Add molasses and eggs to the butter mixture, mix well.
  6. Gradually add dry ingredients to wet ingredients, alternating with hot water.
  7. Pour the batter into the prepared pan.
  8. Bake for 30-35 minutes or until a toothpick comes out clean.
  9. Let it cool in the pan for 10 minutes, then transfer to a wire rack.
