Description

Tres Leches Cake is a traditional Latin American dessert soaked in three types of milk.


Ingredients

  • 1 cup all-purpose flour
  • 1 1/2 teaspoons baking powder
  • 1/4 teaspoon salt
  • 5 large eggs
  • 1 cup granulated sugar
  • 1 teaspoon vanilla extract
  • 1 cup whole milk
  • 1 can (12 oz) evaporated milk
  • 1 can (14 oz) sweetened condensed milk
  • 1 cup heavy cream
  • 1/4 cup powdered sugar

Instructions

  1. Preheat the oven to 350°F (175°C).
  2. Grease and flour a 9×13 inch baking dish.
  3. In a bowl, mix flour, baking powder, and salt.
  4. In another bowl, beat eggs and sugar until light and fluffy.
  5. Add vanilla extract and mix well.
  6. Gradually add the dry ingredients to the egg mixture.
  7. Pour into the prepared baking dish and bake for 30 minutes.
  8. Let the cake cool completely.
  9. In a bowl, combine whole milk, evaporated milk, and sweetened condensed milk.
  10. Poke holes in the cooled cake and pour milk mixture over it.
  11. Refrigerate for at least 4 hours or overnight.
  12. Whip heavy cream with powdered sugar until stiff peaks form.
  13. Spread whipped cream over the cake before serving.

Notes

  • Chill the cake after soaking for best flavor.
  • Top with fresh fruit if desired.
