Description
A traditional Yule Log Cake, also known as Bûche de Noël, is a festive dessert shaped like a log, made from a chocolate sponge cake and filled with cream.

- 1 cup all-purpose flour
- 1 cup granulated sugar
- 1/4 cup cocoa powder
- 4 large eggs
- 1 teaspoon vanilla extract
- 1/2 teaspoon baking powder
- 1/4 teaspoon salt
- 2 cups heavy cream
- 1/2 cup powdered sugar
- 1 teaspoon vanilla extract (for cream)
- Chocolate shavings (for decoration)
Instructions
- Preheat oven to 350°F (175°C).
- Grease and line a baking pan with parchment paper.
- In a bowl, mix flour, sugar, cocoa powder, baking powder, and salt.
- In another bowl, beat eggs and vanilla until light and fluffy.
- Fold the dry ingredients into the egg mixture.
- Pour the batter into the prepared pan and spread evenly.
- Bake for 15-20 minutes until a toothpick comes out clean.
- Let the cake cool on a wire rack.
- Whip the cream with powdered sugar and vanilla until stiff peaks form.
- Spread cream over the cooled cake, roll it up tightly, and shape it into a log.
- Decorate with chocolate shavings.
Notes
- Ensure the cake is completely cooled before rolling.
- Use a clean kitchen towel to help with rolling the cake.
- Chill the cake for a few hours before serving for better slicing.
